Love Takes Flight at LAX, Couples Encouraged to Enter Valentine's Day Photo Contest Featuring Iconic Sign on Sepulveda Boulevard

From now until Feb. 14, couples, families and individuals are encouraged to take a romantic, quirky or stylish photo in front of the iconic LAX sign on Sepulveda Boulevard, which Cupid has decorated to celebrate the holiday of love. LAX and the GRAMMY Museum® Showcase the Evolution of the GRAMMY®, Surprise Passengers in Terminal 2
(Los Angeles, CA) What do U2, Jay-Z and Bruce Springsteen all have in common? They all have GRAMMY® Awards! And now Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) does, too – at least through the end of the year.
Today, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) welcomed guests to LAX during a special GRAMMY Week® celebration to highlight a new exhibit showcasing the evolution of the GRAMMY® Award through the years, complete with cases displaying five statues from the collection at the GRAMMY Museum®. The exhibit can be found in LAX’s Terminal 2 under the stairwell access to airline lounges. LAX is the first airport to host an exhibit in partnership with the GRAMMY Museum®.

STRUCTURE DEMOLISHED IN PREPARATION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE LAX AUTOMATED PEOPLE MOVER
(Los Angeles, CA) Marking a new phase of construction at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the first structure was demolished to allow for the construction of the Automated People Mover (APM) guideway. LAX Integrated Express Solution (LINXS), the developer of the APM, successfully demolished the former Burger King property on the corner of 96th St. and Airport Blvd. The demo was completed on Jan. 28 and took less than six hours to complete. Construction on the APM itself is scheduled to begin this spring.

LAX Ranked Fifth in the World Among Mega Airports for On-Time Flight Performance in 2018
(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is proud to announce that Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) was ranked fifth in the world and third in the United States by OAG for on-time flight performance among Mega airports with more than 30 million departing scheduled seats in 2018. LAX's on-time flight performance was 79.95 percent last year.

Van Nuys Airport Is First General Aviation Airport to Offer Commercially Available Sustainable Alternative Jet Fuels
(Van Nuys, CA) Yesterday, Van Nuys Airport (VNY) hosted “Business Jets Fuel Green: A Step Toward Sustainability,” a daylong event devoted to the use and awareness of sustainable alternative jet fuels (SAJF), which include the latest formulations of jet fuel that come from renewable and sustainable sources. Los Angeles City Councilmember Nury Martinez and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) executives, including LAWA Chief Executive Officer Deborah Flint, joined a consortium of general aviation and business aviation advocates to promote the use of SAJF as part of a shared commitment to combating climate change through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from jet fuel.
