Airlines Leaving from West Gates at Tom Bradley

Beginning in May 2021, some airlines’ flights will be departing from the new state-of-the-art West Gates at the Tom Bradley International Terminal. Below, passengers can learn more about when these changes will take place, where they should check in, and other information about their journey.

Viva Aerobus May 1 – check in at Terminal 1 (previously Terminal 6)
Sun Country Airlines May 11 – check in at Terminal 1 (previously Terminal 5)
Volaris May 11 – continue to check in at Tom Bradley International Terminal
Allegiant May 19 – check in at Terminal 1 (previously Terminal 5)
El Al May 17 – continue to check in at Tom Bradley International Terminal
Air Tahiti Nui May 24 – continue to check in at Tom Bradley International Terminal
Air France May 31 – continue to check in at Tom Bradley International Terminal
KLM May 31 – continue to check in at Tom Bradley International Terminal
Frontier May 22 – check in at Terminal 1 (previously Terminal 5)

Parking, Check-in and Exiting the West Gates

Some airlines have their check-in and baggage claim at Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B) and passengers will simply walk through the tunnel to the West Gates at Tom Bradley (Gates 201-225) to board their planes. The closest parking for these passengers is Parking Structures 3 and 4. For drop-offs, guests can be let out on the Upper/Departures level at the Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Other airlines will be checking in passengers at Terminal 1 and passengers take the free Airport shuttle or walk to the Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B) and the West Gates. The closest parking in this case is at Parking Structure 1. The check-in/ticketing desks are west of the Southwest counters, so guests can be dropped off just past the Southwest skycaps. Look for electronic signs displaying airline names. Passengers arriving on domestic flights will take an airside bus back to Terminal 1, and can find their baggage on Carousel 4 in the Terminal 1 baggage claim area.

NOTICE FOR Viva Aerobus passengers: Viva Aerobus flights arriving at LAX WILL NOT return to Terminal 1. Passengers will go through U.S. Customs at the Tom Bradley International Terminal, and will pick up their luggage here as well. Passengers having friends or family pick them up from a Viva Aerobus flight can be met at Tom Bradley International Terminal outside of baggage claim. Persons flying Viva Aerobus who have parked at Parking Structure 1 can take the Airlines Connector Shuttle from the Pink bus stops on the Lower/Arrivals Level to return to Terminal 1 after leaving Tom Bradley International Terminal.



Leaving the Airport from the West Gates at Tom Bradley

There are several transit options available for guests arriving into LAX from the West Gates at Tom Bradley.

  • Friends and Family Pick-up: if someone is picking you up they can meet you at the second curb outside of either Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B) or Terminal 1 depending on where you picked up your luggage.
  • Taxi and Ride App (Lyft, Opoli or Uber): If you are taking a taxi or ride app vehicle, you can walk or take the fast, free LAX-it shuttles found outside of baggage claim areas that will take you to the LAX-it lot. Food and Beverage Options

As passenger volume increases, new concessions, including food/beverage and retail outlets, will open. Until that time, guests using the West Gates at Tom Bradley will be able to make use of several options:

  • Guests arriving by bus from Terminal 1 can take advantage of offerings from up to two dozen locations in Terminal 1 before riding to the West Gates at Tom Bradley.
  • Guests who check in at Tom Bradley International Terminal can visit concessions near check-in before walking through the tunnel to the West Gates at Tom Bradley.
  • Guests who are already in the West Gates can use the passenger tunnel to walk to the main portion of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (approximately 15 minutes).
  • Guests can use LAX Order Now to request food/beverage delivery from the center of Tom Bradley International Terminal or restaurants in Terminal 6. A $4 delivery charge will apply, and guests are advised to leave ample time for their order to arrive before boarding time.

How to Use the New E-Gate Boarding

All gates in West Gates at Tom Bradley International have the latest in automated boarding technology. Depending upon the airline, and whether the flight is international or domestic, guests may only need to look into a biometric camera or scan their boarding pass/passport to open the gate and proceed to the jet bridge.

 


About the West Gates at Tom Bradley International Terminal

The West Gates at Tom Bradley International Terminal provide a modern guest experience with cutting-edge technology, a beautifully designed interior featuring extensive use of natural light, and a state-of-the-art baggage handling system with early bag storage. The $1.73 billion facility, which serves both international and domestic flights, offers numerous comfortable seating options, with thousands of places to plug in while accessing next-generation wireless services. The facility is comprised of a “neighborhood” concept with the main core of the building considered the “downtown” area because of the high ceilings and elevator towers. Colorful mosaic tiles pay homage to the mid-century modern design of LAX and start the transition to other neighborhoods throughout the facility, ranging from the desert to the ocean. Additional passenger amenities include retail outlets and restrooms, along with automated boarding gates, children’s play areas, nursing rooms, a quiet room and a service-animal relief area. Sustainability features include "cool" roofing and paving materials that absorb heat instead of reflecting it back into the atmosphere, insulated glass that allows in more light, reducing electricity use, and water-saving plumbing fixtures that reduce water consumption by 30 percent compared to traditional fixtures.
