ECONOMIC STUDY FINDS LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT GENERATES 294,400 L.A. COUNTY JOBS, $39.7 BILLION IN ECONOMIC OUTPUT, $2.5 BILLION IN LOCAL AND STATE TAX REVENUES
An economic impact analysis released today reaffirmed the role of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as one of Los Angeles County’s major economic generators. According to a study by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), activity at LAX generates 294,400 jobs in Los Angeles County with labor income of $13.6 billion and economic output of more than $39.7 billion annually. An additional 19,400 jobs are supported in neighboring Southern California counties. This activity added $2.5 billion to local and state tax revenues.

LAX FLYAWAY® BUS SERVICE AT IRVINE STATION TO CEASE OPERATION
(Los Angeles, California – August 20, 2012) FlyAway ® nonstop bus service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and the Irvine Transportation Center (Irvine Station) in Orange County will cease operation, it was announced today by airport officials. The exact date and time of the cessation of service are not known at this time, but are expected to occur by September 14.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA’S BOTANICAL LIFE INSPIRES NEW ART EXHIBITS AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
(Los Angeles, California – August 10, 2012) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, announces two exhibitions at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), featuring works by Southern California artists exploring the vast subject of nature. Observing Naturepresents Fatemeh Burnes’ mixed-media paintings and Lawrence T. Yun’s watercolors of still life floral arrangements. Through their individual artistic practices, the artists investigate and observe natural and synthetic phenomena. Le Petit Jardin is a group exhibition featuring artworks by painters and photographers inspired by Southern California’s diverse botanical life. Both located in Terminal 1, Observing Nature is on view for the general public in Baggage Claim through January 2013, and Le Petit Jardin is on view for ticketed passengers at Gate 1 through October 2012.

LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT REPORTS PASSENGER LEVEL UP 3.6 PERCENT DURING FIRST HALF OF 2012
(Los Angeles, California – August 9, 2012) Passenger volume at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) between January and June 2012 rose 3.6 percent to 30,943,155 passengers from 29,873,512 during the same period last year, according to statistics released recently by airport officials. International passenger level grew three percent during the first six months of 2012 to 8,333,316 from 8,090,708 last year. Domestic traffic grew 3.8 percent to 22,609,839 passengers during the first half this year from 21,782,804 in 2011.

FAA TEMPORARILY SUSPENDS OPPOSITE DIRECTION RUNWAY OPERATIONS; BEGINS MIDNIGHT TONIGHT, AUGUST 8, 2012
Effective midnight Tuesday, August 8, 2012, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is suspending use of Opposite Direction Runway Operations at all applicable airports throughout the United States. The FAA Air Traffic Control Tower at LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) notified airport management this afternoon that this suspension will include ONT’s nighttime Contra-flow Operations. This suspension will be in effect until the FAA obtains further validation of the Opposite Direction Operation procedure.

DFS GROUP AWARDED 10-YEAR CONTRACT FOR DUTY FREE CONCESSIONS AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved a Duty Free Merchandise Concession Agreement with DFS Group L.P. to develop and operate duty-free and duty-paid merchandise concessions in all passenger terminals at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for a period of 10 years with three additional one-year options. The agreement is forecast to produce revenue to Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) of over $100 million for the first fully developed year, and an average of over $150 million annually over the initial 10-year term. DFS will be required to invest no less than $25 million in initial improvements and $17 million in mid-term refurbishment improvements.

LAX CRIME TASK FORCE ARRESTS COMMERCIAL BURGLARY SUSPECT

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) released today the Draft Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIR) for the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Specific Plan Amendment Study (SPAS) and the SPAS Report. Three public meetings are scheduled to provide interested parties the opportunity to review and comment on the Draft EIR. Public comments on the SPAS Draft EIR may be submitted during a 75-day period that ends Wednesday, October 10, 2012.

(Los Angeles, California – July 23, 2012) Passengers and visitors to the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are advised that the terminal’s north entrance doors on the Upper/Departures Level will be closed beginning 12:01 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012. The center and south entrances will remain accessible to the public. This marks the beginning of the LAX Central Terminal Curb Appeal Improvement Project, which will be performed in phases.
