LAWA INCREASES SHUTTLE FLEET TO LAX-IT, VEHICLES IN CENTRAL TERMINAL AREA DECREASE BY 15% AND TRAVEL TIMES IMPROVE

(Los Angeles, CA) As Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) continues to improve the LAX-it experience half-way through its first week of operations, airport officials today announced an increase in the shuttle fleet to ensure swift transportation for guests to LAX-it, where they now connect with their taxi and ride app drivers. This announcement comes as travel times to LAX and through the Central Terminal Area have seen dramatic decreases since LAX-it’s launch just four days ago.

LAWA IN MIDST OF ACTIONS TO IMPROVE LAX-IT OPERATIONS

(Los Angeles, CA) LAX-it has now been open for more than two full days. During this time, the lot has experienced periods of efficient operations as well as challenges during peak operations. A series of adjustments are being implemented to improve our shuttle operations and driver/customer connections. LAX-it TAXI AND RIDE APP PICKUP LOT TO OPEN TUESDAY MORNING WITH NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN ON LOWER LEVEL AND SHUTTLE LOCATION CHANGES

Coming End of October: New LAX-it Will Reduce Traffic and Provide a Better Experience for Guests Using Taxis and Ride Apps for Pickup
(Los Angeles, CA) As Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) ramps up work on its modernization program, the airport today announced plans for “LAX-it,” a convenient, amenity-rich, centralized area for guests to pick up a taxi or ride app service, and avoid traffic in the Central Terminal Area (CTA). LAX-it will open at the end of October, and will remain in service until the Automated People Mover opens in 2023.

LAX-it will only be for pickups, as ride app and taxi drivers will continue to drop off passengers at the terminal curbs on the Upper/Departures Level.

MAYOR GARCETTI AND LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS BREAK GROUND ON HISTORIC CONSOLIDATED RENTAL CAR FACILITY

(Los Angeles, CA) Mayor Eric Garcetti broke ground today on the Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which will centralize rental car operations into one convenient location and offer a direct connection to the upcoming Automated People Mover (APM) train. The Mayor was joined at the ceremony by Councilmembers Mike Bonin and Joe Buscaino, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) President Sean Burton, and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) CEO Deborah Flint, as well as community and labor leaders.

FOUR NEW ART EXHIBITIONS BRING SOLO AND CURATED GROUP DISPLAYS TO LAX

(Los Angeles, CA) Four new art exhibitions at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will take passengers at Terminal 1 on a journey through a variety of artistic practices, including photography, printmaking, sculpture, video work, drawing and painting. The new exhibitions, presented in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and now on display, include three solo artists and one group exhibition.
