LAX REPORTS 2002 YEAR-END PASSENGER, CARGO VOLUMES; MONTHLY VOLUMES CONTINUE UPWARD TREND FROM SEPTEMBER 11

LAX EXPECTS 2.6 MILLION PASSENGERS TO USE LAX DURING HOLIDAYS CITY OFFICIALS CITE NEW CONVENIENCES; OFFER HELPFUL TRAVEL TIPS
(Los Angeles, California - December 20, 2002) Los Angeles Mayor Jim Hahn and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) officials are estimating 2.6 million holiday travelers will pass through the airport between Friday, Dec. 20 through Sunday, Jan. 5. The daily average of this year's passenger traffic is expected to be about 11 percent greater than last year's, however it remains down an estimated nine percent from the record holiday travel recorded in late Dec. 2000 and early Jan. 2001.

"This is a tremendous accomplishment on the part of all 1,700 LAWA employees who took major steps, and sometimes painful steps, to keep LAX financially stable in the post-Sept. 11 environment," said Miscikowski. "Our City will benefit directly from LAWA's hard work. Due to the new bond rating, the City will save millions of dollars in interest payments on the bonds, thus freeing up more funds for critically needed projects around Los Angeles."

CITY OF LOS ANGELES TO IMPLEMENT "TIME, PLACE, MANNER" REGULATIONS ON SOLICITATION AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

S&P RATES LAX ‘AA’: HIGHEST AIRPORT RATING
SAN FRANCISCO (Standard & Poor's) Dec. 4, 2002-Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that it assigned its 'AA' rating, the highest rating Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has assigned to a U.S. general airport revenue bond, to $36 million in debt issued for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) by the City of Los Angeles. The rating is based on the extremely strong financial and demand profile of the airport. The bonds, for which the outlook is stable, are scheduled to sell on December 12.
