LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT HOSTS EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT EVENT FOR ONTARIO YMCA STUDENTS
 (Ontario, California June 6, 2012) --- LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) today hosted a fun-filled festivity to recognize and reward the academic achievements of 60 young students from the Ontario YMCA.  The event was held at the Ontario YMCA facility and included various activities such as a bucket brigade, and basketball and baseball toss.  The students were also treated to a barbecue luncheon and airport summer activity bags.

WESTFIELD CONCESSION MANAGEMENT AWARDED CONCESSION AGREEMENT FOR FOOD-BEVERAGE, RETAIL SERVICES AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT NEW 17-YEAR CONTRACT COVERS CONCESSIONS IN TERMINALS 1, 3 AND 6
Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved a 17-year Terminal Commercial Manager Concession Agreement with Westfield Concession Management, LLC, (Westfield) to develop, lease and manage food and beverage, convenience retail, specialty retail and certain other passenger services in three terminals at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

LAFD ASSISTANT CHIEF JOINS HOMELAND SECURITY TEAM AT LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS

LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO PROVIDE PASSENGERS FREE WI-FI SERVICE BEGINNING AS SOON AS SUMMER 2012
     Meeting one of the top demands by passengers for improved customer service at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved a $663,333 two-year concession agreement plus a one-year extension option with Advanced Wireless Group LLC (AWG) to provide free Wi-Fi service to travelers.  The free service could begin as early as this summer. Passengers will be able to use Wi-Fi basic services for free for sessions lasting less than 45 minutes.  Passengers also will be able to opt to pay for premium and uninterrupted Wi-Fi service for a 24-hour period.

 Beginning Tuesday, June 5, the first of several temporary lane closures will take effect within the Central Terminal Area roadways at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) -- marking the start of vehicular traffic impacts expected over the next two years from various construction projects that are part of the current $4.1-billion LAneXt™ airport modernization program.  Passengers, motorists, airport workers and vendors should plan accordingly and allow more time to get to/from LAX.

LAX HOSTS PRE-MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE FOR VETERANS VETERANS HONORED WITH VIP TOUR OF NEW TOM BRADLEY INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL CONSTRUCTION
(Los Angeles, California- May 24, 2012) To mark Memorial Day, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) today hosted a VIP tour for veterans of the New Tom Bradley International Terminal construction site.  David V. Shuter, LAWA deputy executive director of Facilities Engineering and Maintenance, conducted the tour.  Shuter is a retired U.S. Marine Corps brigadier general, who previously commanded Marine Corps Air Bases Western Area and was stationed at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.

LAX FORECASTS 750,000 TRAVELERS OVER MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, 19.9 MILLION PASSENGERS DURING SUMMER TRAVEL SEASON
(Los Angeles, California – May 23, 2012)  Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) officials estimate more than 750,000 travelers are expected to pass through the airport  Memorial Day weekend – a decrease of 7.4 percent compared to the four-day holiday period in 2011.

-- LAX TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR MAY 18-20, 2012 --
(Los Angeles, California – May 17, 2012)  The Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Bureau of Street Services Resurfacing and Reconstruction Division informed officials at Los Angeles International Airport of intermittent and full closures of the westbound and eastbound Century Boulevard lanes between La Cienega Boulevard and Aviation Boulevard beginning Friday May 18 at 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. May 19, and then again from 10:00 p.m. that same evening to 10:00 a.m. Sunday May 20. The closures will take place for liquid asphalt pouring and resurfacing of Century Boulevard traffic lanes.

AIRBERLIN BEGINS NONSTOP SERVICE BETWEEN LOS ANGELES AND BERLIN
  (Los Angeles, California – May 11, 2012)  a irberlin today launched nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and the German capitol, Berlin.  Flight AB 7023, the first arrival from Berlin-Tegel International Airport (TXL), was welcomed by airberlin’s Vice President of International Sales Mats Jacobsson, Los Angeles City Councilmember Tom LaBonge, German Consul General Wolfgang Drautz, and Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director Gina Marie Lindsey.

AIRPORT POLICE PLACES IN BAKER-TO-VEGAS CHALLENGE CUP RELAY
(Los Angeles, California – April 26, 2012)  Los Angeles Airport Police participated in the annual Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay beginning in Baker, California, and finishing in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 21 and 22, 2012.  The relay is a 120-mile, 20-stage foot race among law enforcement officers from all over the world. The annual event began in 1985 with 19 teams to encourage police officers to improve their physical fitness.
