LARGE-SCREEN INTEGRATED ENVIRONMENTAL MEDIA SYSTEM IN TOM BRADLEY INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL CONTINUES WINNING AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE
(Los Angeles, CA – June 11, 2014) The large-scale Integrated Environmental Media System (IEMS) in the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) continues to collect awards for excellence, elevating LAX’s recognition as a world-class airport. This week the system claimed Best in Show at the 2014 Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) Global Design Awards.

ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ROAD CLOSURE AT AIRPORT DRIVE AND VINEYARD AVENUE.
(Ontario, California – June 10, 2014) Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight June 10, Airport Drive will be closed to both east and westbound traffic between Vineyard Avenue and Moore Way. The closure will provide construction crews associated with the Vineyard Grade Separation project time to install a new 8” sewer line. The closure is scheduled to last until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11.

ONT PASSENGER VOLUME UP SLIGHTLY OVER THE PAST FOUR MONTHS
(Ontario, California – June 2 , 2014)   Passenger numbers at LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) for the first four months of the year show a slight increase over last year during the same period.  Passenger activity in April shows ONT airlines served 338,421 travelers, a 1.5 percent increase compared to April 2013. International traffic is showing higher numbers, which is being helped by Volaris, a new Mexican carrier at ONT that started twice weekly service in mid-April. Volaris, as well as AeroMexico,  provide nonstop service between ONT and Guadalajara, Mexico.

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS PROVIDES $10-MILLION AS SECOND INSTALLMENT TO HELP FUND LENNOX SCHOOL DISTRICT SOUND INSULATION PROGRAM
(Los Angeles, CA – June 2, 2014)  The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today authorized a $10-million grant to the Lennox School District for construction of sound-mitigation elements in its Classroom Sound Insulation Program.  This is the second installment for the district’s $35.3-million overall program.

ETIHAD AIRWAYS STARTS DAILY LOS ANGELES-ABU DHABI SERVICE

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), today launched daily nonstop EY 170 service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).

Los Angeles is Etihad Airways’ fourth U.S. destination, joining Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C. on the airline’s expanding network, which will increase further on December 3, 2014 with the addition of direct flights to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS STATEMENT ON USC AIR QUALITY STUDY

In response to USC’s recently released air quality study, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has issued the following statement:

LAWA officials have not had the opportunity to review the USC study.  However, in January 2014, LAWA completed a multi-year LAX Air Quality Source Apportionment Study, which was one of the most extensive air-quality studies ever performed at an airport. LAX MODERNIZATION UPDATE: JUNE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS MAY CAUSE PASSENGER IMPACTS
Construction continues on several projects at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) – all part of the ongoing multi-billion-dollar airport modernization program. The latest impacts to travelers will be the closure of Center Way from Theme Way to East Way, the temporary and intermediate closure of the Upper/Departures Level Roadway, and the relocation of the TSA Screening Area on the south side of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), among other ongoing construction projects.

LAX FORECASTS 758,000 TRAVELERS DURING MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND; SUMMER TRAVEL SEASON TO BREAK RECORD WITH 21.5 MILLION PASSENGERS
(Los Angeles, California – May 22, 2014) Officials at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) estimate nearly 758,000 travelers are expected to pass through the airport this Memorial Day weekend – an increase of eight percent over the 703,070 passengers of the 2013 holiday period. Airport officials also forecast 21.5 million passengers this summer travel season, an increase of four percent over last summer’s record of 20,663,209 travelers.

(Los Angeles, California – May 20, 2014) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has scheduled a public workshop to provide interested parties the opportunity to review and inquire about the completion of the Draft Environmental Impact Report for the LAX Northside Plan Update Project at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). No decisions on the proposed project will be made at the public workshop.
